The manuscript "ԲԺՇԿԱՐԱՆ ՁԻՈՅ"

Dear All:

The manuscript “Բժշկարան Ձիոյ” has been in the Nazloomian family over hundred of years. It has been passed over from generation to generation as a medical reference book. My grandmother Sandoukht Nazloomian, used to practice traditional medicine according to the book, at her residence in New Julfa, Esfahan. The manuscript is a translation of "Ֆարաջի Բժկարան", transcribed by hand in Sebastia (Սեբաստիայ) in the year 1504.

The manuscript was donated to the Matenadaran in Yerevan (Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցի Անվան Մատենադարան) on October 4, 2008 by my sister Sona Megerdoomian-Chapchovian. Attached are pictures from the ceremony of the gift presentation and pages from the manuscript.

Also attached are excerpts from a book published in Yerevan in 1980 by the late Babken Chukasazian entitled “Բժշկարան ձիոյ և առհասարակ գրաստնոյ”, with references to the manuscript “Բժշկարան Ձիոյ”. Eleven pages of the attachment are excerpts from the book and three pages of it are from the manuscript itself.
